Before you buy: what’s included, and what your office adds
How it works: self-paced online lessons with short videos and a quiz after each lesson. There is no live class or instructor. Learners can send a question to our trainers from any lesson (we answer within 2 business days) or call (916) 770-4050, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm Pacific. Each person who passes gets a dated certificate of completion. It is not continuing-education (CE) credit.
California requires this training to be interactive. For online training, learners must be able to ask a trainer a question and get an answer within two business days. The “Ask a trainer” box under every lesson does this.
In the portal, mark each supervisor so they get the 2-hour supervisor version. Your office still needs its own written harassment prevention policy, the required Civil Rights Department poster, and the CRD information sheet (CRD-185) for staff.
Who it’s for
- California employers with five or more employees, including part-time and temporary workers.
- Supervisors, office managers, lead assistants and providers who direct other staff.
- New hires and newly promoted supervisors who must be trained within six months.
What California law requires
California Government Code §12950.1 requires employers with five or more employees to provide at least one hour of sexual harassment prevention training to nonsupervisory employees and at least two hours to supervisors, once every two years.
New employees must be trained within six months of hire, and new supervisors within six months of taking the role. Seasonal and temporary employees hired for less than six months must be trained within 30 calendar days or 100 hours worked, whichever comes first. The training must be interactive and must cover abusive conduct, and gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation.
The Civil Rights Department advises keeping training records for at least two years.
