Before you buy: what’s included, and what your office adds

How it works: self-paced online lessons with short videos and a quiz after each lesson. There is no live class or instructor. Learners can send a question to our trainers from any lesson (we answer within 2 business days) or call (916) 770-4050, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm Pacific. Each person who passes gets a dated certificate of completion. It is not continuing-education (CE) credit.

The lessons teach the billing job, not a specific software. Show each new biller where every step lives in your own practice management system, and share your payer contracts, fee schedule and billing policies.

Audience

Who it’s for

  • New billing staff and front desk team members at medical practices.
  • Dental offices that bill medical plans and want the medical side explained.
  • Office managers who supervise billing and want to understand the workflow.
The law

Licensing and certification

No license is required by law to work as a medical biller. This program awards a certificate of completion from Comodo Technology. It is not a coding certification such as AAPC’s CPC or AHIMA’s CCS, and it is not CE credit.

CPT codes and descriptions belong to the American Medical Association, so the lessons explain how CPT works without reprinting codes. Your office needs its own licensed, current-year code books or billing software.

Certificates

A dated certificate anyone can verify

Dated, with a serial number

Each person who passes gets a certificate showing their name, practice, program, lessons completed, score and date. Lessons end with a short quiz; the pass mark is 80%.

Anyone can check it

An auditor, inspector or employer can confirm a certificate is genuine at hipaa.comodotechnology.com/verify, with no account and without contacting us.

Not CE credit

It is a certificate of completion: proof the training happened. It is not continuing-education credit and not an accreditation or license.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a license to be a medical biller?
No license is required by law. Many billers later earn a coding credential such as the CPC or CCS by exam. This program is a foundation, not one of those credentials.
Does this course include CPT codes?
It explains how CPT, ICD-10-CM and HCPCS work and how they fit on a claim. It does not reprint CPT codes, which are owned by the AMA. Use your licensed code books or software.
Is it current for 2026?
Yes. It reflects the 2026 Medicare Part B deductible, the ICD-10-CM update that took effect October 1, 2026, and California’s medical debt rules.
What proof do we get?
A dated certificate with a serial number for each person who passes, verifiable online. It is a certificate of completion, not CE credit.
